Merry Christmas! The holidays have officially arrived, and apart from holiday-related specials, it’s fairly thin pickings out there this week. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t a few gems to check out.

The biggest entry this week is the long-awaited Doctor Who holiday special “The Return of Doctor Mysterio,” which sees The Doctor putting a spin on the superhero tropes. It should be fun. The Netflix sci-fi series Sense8 is also dropping a Christmas special ahead of its full second season in 2017. Netflix is also dropping Guillermo del Toro’s new CGI animated series Trollhunters, which is riding a solid wave of buzz.

Syfy (Corporate owner of Blastr -Ed.) also has a few episodes hitting this week, led by the season finale of Aftermath. There’s also a new episode of the future-set thriller Incorporated.

Check out our full breakdown below and set your DVR accordingly.

Ellen Ripley

If there's a girls-only "Expendables" movie in the cards (and there probably is) and Pam Grier isn't available, the leader of the femme pack will no doubt be played by Sigourney Weaver. One of the first true movie action heroines, Ellen Ripley managed to be the only survivor of the crew of the doomed Nostromo in Ridley Scott's original Alien (1979) and went on to become a machine gun-wielding ultra mama jama in James Cameron's Aliens (1986), acting on her formidable maternal instincts with a whole lotta firepower and ever-quotable zingers like "Get away from her, you bitch!" And there's just no stopping the good lieutenant -- after shaving her head and jumping into a pit of fire to prevent one of the nasty xenomorphs from bursting out of her own chest in Alien 3 (1992), she was brought back to life in Alien Resurrection (1997) with a bit of the alien DNA mixed with her own badass blood, turning her into a highly sexualized and considerably dangerous creature. Come on, Fox execs -- whaddya say to one more round with this awesome space lady?

Katniss Everdeen

The odds are forever in the favor of the young woman who's inspired countless legions of YA readers to take up archery ... and, for the truly adventurous, maybe even a taste for squirrel. Katniss was just another gal from District 12 trying to make a living (or at least, you know, an 'existence') in her run-down mining community when she volunteered for the 74th Annual Hunger Games so that her little sister Primrose didn't have to be thrown to the wolves herself; by the end of the first movie, she was the pride and joy of Panem as the co-champion with her would-be love interest, Peeta...and the inadvertent starter pistol of a bloody People's Revolution against the corrupt Capitol. Hey, we'd go to war for the Girl on Fire, too (P.S. Jennifer Lawrence also plays Mystique in the new round of X-Men movies -- how much kick-ass can one girl command?).

Incorporated (Syfy), Wednesday, 10 p.m. - “Cost Containment”

The Larsons and Elizabeth don't see eye to eye when it comes to certain life choices; Theo defies an order to cripple a basketball prodigy; Roger enlists help uncovering Ben's secrets; and a daring heist is planned by Aaron and Theo.

INCORPORATED | Season 1, Episode 4: Sneak Peek | Syfy

Alice

"Go ask Alice...when she's ten feet tall." Milla Jovovich actually stands at 5'9", though she certainly seems much more physically imposing when she blasts, kicks, punches, flips and ka-booms her way through the exquisite guilty pleasures that are the Resident Evil movies. Milla made her debut as zombie stomper Alice in Resident Evil (2002) wearing nothing but the tiniest red dress; after further radical experiments as the hottest guinea pig to ever grace an Umbrella Corporations lab, Alice donned more traditional, Mad Max-ian garb as she unleashed her super-powers upon the undead hordes of Raccoon City and beyond. Milla makes no apologies for these silly video game commercials disguised as action horror movies, and neither do we (Note: For more midriff-baring Milla action, check out her working the wig like nobody's business in the completely incoherent yet awfully pretty-looking Ultraviolet).

Thursday

A Charlie Brown Christmas (ABC), Thursday, 8 p.m.

The holiday classic is back to warm your heart once again.

Jen Yu

Zhang Ziyi became an international superstar with her stunning turn as Jen Yu, a revenge-minded martial artist with seemingly supernatural abilities (like, oh, being able to RUN UP WALLS and FLOAT THROUGH THE AIR) in Ang Lee's gorgeous Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). Ziyi was barely 20 at the time of production but she more than held her own against veteran ass-kickers Chow Yun-fat and Michelle Yeoh as she seemingly effortlessly traversed Yuen Wo Ping's amazing fight choreography, taking a break from her lady rampaging only occasionally to make out with her handsome co-star, Chang Chen. Crouching Tiger" is just one of many ass-kicking gigs for the lovely Ziyi, who's also shown off her impressive fighting skills in films such as Musa the Warrior (2001), Hero (2002), House of Flying Tigers (2004), The Grandmaster (2013)...and, oh yeah, Rush Hour 2 (2001).

Falling Water (USA), Thursday, 10 p.m. - “Circular Time”

Tess tries to protect the boy; Taka attempts to appease the Green; and Burton strives to heal the Woman in Red.

Falling Water 1x10 Promo "Circular Time" (HD) Season Finale

Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow

The ass-kicking demands of Luc Besson's Lucy ain't no thang for Scarlett Johansson, who's had plenty of prior training with her three (and counting) on-screen appearances as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Natasha made her debut in Iron Man 2 (2010) as little more than hottie window dressing with a knack for taking out entire security forces and changing wardrobes in the backs of cars (much to the delight of director Jon Favreau, who steals an on-screen glance as Happy Hogan); Joss Whedon arguably didn't do her too much better in Marvel's The Avengers" (2012), putting her in a tight dress and tying her to chair in her very first scene, reducing her to yet another Whedon-esque beauty prone to impossibly witty quips who somehow never loses her cool. However, something of a real human being emerged in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) -- a very haunted and wounded one, at that, and we can't wait to see where she goes next...leaving a trail of unconscious bad guys in her wake, of course.
