TV THIS WEEK: Grodd attacks on Flash, new Bates Motel, Making History debuts and more

We have a few big premieres this week, plus a whole lot of new episodes for everything from The Flash to Bates Motel.

The Arrowverse is all new this week, except for Legends of Tomorrow, which is taking the week off. There are also new episodes of The Magicians and The Expanse, plus Legion and Riverdale. On the finale front, Beyond and Emerald City come to an end to their respective seasons. Oh, and of course a new Walking Dead bashes some skulls on Sunday. Looking at up-starts, both Making History and Time After Time debut later this week.

Grodd and his army of gorillas bring the battle to Earth-1, but the Flash and his team try to stop them before they destroy Central City. Meanwhile, Gypsy returns to join the fight; and Jesse Quick decides she wants to stay with Wally on Earth-1.

Time After Time (ABC), Sunday 9PM - "Pilot; I Will Catch You"

A young H.G. Wells travels in the time machine he created to modern day New York City in the pursuit of the charismatic (yet secretly psychopathic) Dr. John Stevenson, better known as Jack the Ripper, in the first half of this series premiere. In the second half, he faces the real possibility that Vanessa Anders is his great granddaughter.

Shadowhunters (Freeform), Monday 8PM - "Bound by Blood"

The Downworlders are at odds on how to handle the issue of Clary being a key part of Valentine's plan, but when Iris activates her blood oath, Clary has more to worry about than hiding from Valentine and the Downworlders. Meanwhile, Isabelle and Raphael get closer as Alec tries to figure out what's going on with his sister.

Supergirl (The CW), Monday 8PM - "Homecoming"

Gared Tuttle: 

Gared was raised on stories of heroism about the likes of Arthur Dayne and Symeon Star-Eyes. Though the son of a pig farmer, he has always aspired to one day become a warrior himself. With the help of his uncle Duncan, who had risen from lowborn origins to become Castellan of Ironrath, Gared found work in Lord Forrester’s stables, rising through the ranks to eventually be named his squire. Gared has served Lord Forrester throughout the long months in King Robb’s army, and is ready to be a warrior in his own right.

Royland Degore: 

Royland Degore joined Lord Forrester’s army after his family was wiped out by Ironborn during Balon Greyjoy’s rebellion. Degore had a natural grasp of military tactics and strategy and came to play a crucial role in the siege of Pyke that ended the war. In the months that followed, King Robert awarded Royland a knighthood and Lord Forrester asked him to serve as Ironrath’s Master-at-Arms. Ser Royland still holds the position and is known for his military expertise… as well as his legendary temper.

Life in the capital has not been easy for Mira, as her straightforward Northern ways are often at odds with the subtleties of court life – but she also has more guile than she realizes.

Supernatural (The CW), Thursday 8PM - "The Raid"

A chance to take out a nest of vampires backfires when the alpha-vamp shows up and turns the tables on Mary and the British Men of Letters, who are doing their best to recruit Sam and Dean.

Ethan Forrester: 

Hailing from House Forrester, third-born son Ethan Forrester is "drawn to pursuits of the mind, particularly music and books." According to the character's biography, Ethan and his twin sister Talia both shared a "great love for the towering trees of Ironrath." He was young when his house joined the War of the Five Kings, and the end of the war placed him into a role which he was "unprepared for."

Riverdale (The CW), Thursday 9PM - "Chapter Six: Faster, Pussycats! Kill! Kill!"

Valerie helps Archie prepare for his performance in the school's annual variety show, which doesn't sit well with Josie; Betty and Jughead's investigation leads to a home for troubled youth and a face-to-face with Polly; Veronica's improving relationship with her mother takes a hit after an unexpected betrayal. Also, Josie deals with her own issues at home after her overbearing father returns to see her perform at the variety show; and Hermoine begins work at Andrew's Construction.

Lady Elissa Forrester: 

Elissa Forrester was born to House Branfield, a minor Southron House that was destroyed when the Targaryen dynasty fell. In the aftermath of the defeat, Lady Elissa was married to Lord Gregor. She at first saw herself as a prisoner at Ironrath, but Gregor was kind to his young wife and she quickly grew to love him. Once their children were born, Lady Elissa embraced her role as the Forrester matriarch and silently swore she’d never see her family destroyed again.
