House of Wax (1953): A remake of 1933's Mystery of the Wax Museum,  House of Wax was the first color 3D movie released by a major studio and used every lurid trick possible as a result, thrusting everything, including a woman's backside, out at the audience. But Price's vengeance-crazed Professor Jarrod, who creates wax figures around the corpses of his victims for his museum, is a delightfully hammy portrayal that set the little-known character actor on the path that would lead to the most famous stretch of his career. (DVD only, Warner Home Video)

Supergirl (The CW), Monday 8PM - "Luthors"

Beyond (Freeform), Monday 9PM - "Last Action Hero"

House on Haunted Hill (1959): Frederick Loren and his fourth wife invite five people to a party at a supposedly haunted house he's rented, promising $10,000 to whoever spends the entire night among the apparitions and ghosts. A huge hit when it came out -- and later a fondly remembered favorite on TV -- House on Haunted Hill featured the "Emergo" gimmick courtesy of producer/director William Castle, who arranged for a skeleton to fly over the heads of the audience at certain points in the film. Even without that, the movie is a lot of fun and dominated by Price, who perfects the withering, razor wit and mix of cool reserve and barely contained hysteria that would become his trademark. (Blu-ray, The Vincent Price Collection II)

APB (Fox), Monday 9PM - "Personal Matters"

A pharmacy robbery causes the injury of a child during Gideon's ride-along with Murphy, which spawns the creation of electronic motorcycles that could help in the pursuit of the suspects. Meanwhile, Murphy learns of a plot to scuttle Gideon's program that's coming from someone she knows well.

The Tingler (1959): Price reteamed with Castle for this little yarn, in which a pathologist named Warren Chapin (Price) discovers a parasite that grows on the human spine and feeds off fear. Castle had electric buzzers planted under the seats in selected theaters to make people "tingle" at points throughout the film, which actually has a cool premise and one outstanding shot in which a bathtub filled with blood turns red -- the only color in the otherwise black and white picture. The script does get silly -- Castle was more circus barker than filmmaker -- but Price anchors it with a fine and even multi-layered performance. (DVD, The William Castle Film Collection)

Humans (AMC), Monday 10PM - "Episode 1"

Scorpion (CBS), Monday 10PM - "Keep It in Check, Mate"

Walter and Sylvester go undercover as competitors at an international-chess competition in order to extricate a U.S. spy from a foreign country before her identity is exposed.

Scorpion - Keep it in Check, Mate (Sneak Peek 1)

Fall of the House of Usher (1960): Price teamed with producer/director Roger Corman for several Edgar Allan Poe adaptations that were hugely successful and surprisingly mature, starting with this genre classic. Corman's Poe films are a lot more sophisticated than they're given credit for, with brilliant production design and use of color, subversive psychosexual undercurrents and an atmosphere of brooding, existential despair. Price, himself, channeled his usual hammy tendencies into something wrought with agony as Roderick Usher, creating the first of a string of indelible portrayals in this film and others. Fall of the House of Usher works as both metaphor and Gothic melodrama, a nexus where Price found his acting sweet spot. (Blu-ray, The Vincent Price Collection)

Timeless (NBC), Monday 10PM - "Public Enemy No. 1"

Flynn escalates his agenda by landing in 1931 Chicago to call in a favor from infamous gangster Al Capone. The reunited trio are hot on Flynn's trail and enlist the help of lawman Eliot Ness. Also: A clue leads to a crucial revelation about Rittenhouse.

Timeless 1x15 Promo "Public Enemy No. 1" (HD)

The Pit and the Pendulum (1961): Corman and Price followed up Usher with this even more macabre outing, which took what is essentially a story fragment and turned it into a -- well, to be honest, almost a remake of their previous film together. There is once again an old, crumbling house, malignant secrets held within, a nobleman whose sanity is fraying (guess who plays that role), a premature burial and tons of Gothic atmosphere. Price is excellent throughout, but the movie really only gets going in its final act as the title apparatus comes into play. (Blu-ray, The Vincent Price Collection)

Face Off (Syfy), Tuesday 9PM - "Snow Queens"

In the second elimination challenge of the season, the All-Star teams work to create beautiful snow queens inspired by a series of unique snowflakes.

FACE OFF | Season 11, Episode 3: 'Welcome to Monster High' | Syfy

The Raven (1963): Price could be exceptionally funny -- most of his roles are marked with a sly wit -- and got to fully indulge his comedic side in his fourth Poe film with Corman, which took the writer's classic poem and used it as the basis for a movie about dueling warlocks. The other warlock is played by Boris Karloff, while Peter Lorre appears as a third, and seeing these three greats onscreen together was well worth the price of admission (Lorre and Price had previously worked together in the "Black Cat" segment of Corman's previous Poe entry, Tales of Terror). The mood is much lighter than the earlier Poe outings and all three stars have a delicious dryness to their performances -- in a movie in which the only straight man is played by a young Jack Nicholson. (Blu-ray, The Vincent Price Collection II)

Bones (Fox), Tuesday 10PM - "The Final Chapter: The Scare in the Score"

Booth delves into his past when dead bodies start turning up around Washington, D.C. that are linked to his old Army unit. Meanwhile, Brennan worries about her father but wonders if she can trust him after he doesn't tell her about a medical procedure.

Bones 12x07 Promo "The Scare in the Score" (HD)

The Haunted Palace (1963): Although this was billed as part of the Poe series, The Haunted Palace is actually based on The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, a story by H.P. Lovecraft -- and it's one of the finest adaptations of that author's work, which can be difficult to transfer to the screen. Price gives one of his more showy, yet scary, performances as Ward, who inherits the home of his evil warlock ancestor Joseph Curwen and soon becomes possessed by Curwen's vengeful spirit. There are some eerie scenes here that capture the tone of Lovecraft, and Price's sadistic turn as Curwen/Ward foreshadowed his truly malevolent work in Masque of the Red Death and Witchfinder General. (Blu-ray, The Vincent Price Collection)

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC), Tuesday 10PM - "The Man Behind the Shield"

Mace fights for his life and the agents try to rescue him but face a deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD 4x14: The Man Behind the Shield | Sneak Peek [HD] | ABC 2017 Episode 14

The Comedy of Terrors (1964): You might mistake this for one of the Poe entries since it's got the exact same stars as The Raven -- Price, Lorre and Karloff -- and was even written by Richard Matheson, who did several of the Poes for Corman. But this was an original script about two funeral directors (Price and Lorre) who resort to murder to beef up their failing business. Even wackier than The Raven, this is an authentically funny film and Price digs into his drunken role with relish, again showing off his comic chops. The movie was surprisingly directed by Jacques Tourneur, whose earlier horror films like Cat People, I Walked With A Zombie and Night of the Demon were much darker. (Blu-ray, The Vincent Price Collection II)
