It’s the week of New Year’s, and for TV fans, that means we’ve hit the dead zone while we wait for the midseason premieres to start cranking up in a couple of weeks. But, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to watch. You just have to dig deep.

The week is led by the premiere of Sherlock, which arrives on PBS this Sunday. Watch it because it’s awesome, and also because there’s not much else on. We also have a new episode of Syfy’s (Corporate owner of Syfy Wire -Ed) Incorporated, plus the network’s annual Twilight Zone marathon.

We also hand-picked some movies in primetime, on days where there’s literally nothing new hitting the airwaves for genre fans.

Highlights

Incorporated (Syfy), Wednesday, 10 p.m. - “Profit and Loss”

Ben improvises to keep Roger from discovering the truth about Elena; at the same time, he faces pressure from Elizabeth to complete a vital project. Meanwhile, Laura takes her therapy to the next level; and Julian offers assistance to a friend in need.

Inception (IFC), Thursday, 8 p.m.

Christopher Nolan’s mind bending thriller is on cable tonight. Since there’s pretty much nothing new on, you could do far worse than going three-deep into a dream trip.

Tuesday

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (FX), Tuesday, 8 p.m.

Another night with pretty much nothing new on, so unless you’re digging into your DVR, we’d recommend revisiting The Winter Soldier for the evening.
