This week The CW begins its season with two big premieres, the new season of The Vampire Diaries and the debut of Nikita. Also, HBO's True Blood finishes up a bloody good year with its season-three finale.
Also this week, Pete and Myka go back in time on Warehouse 13, the Ghost Hunters get involved with gargoyles, Katherine returns to The Vampire Diaries, Maggie Q debuts as the new Nikita, Josh Gates investigates the ghosts of Pompeii on Destination Truth in the season-four premiere, Beast Legends premieres with a search for the Kraken, it's déjà vu for the gang of Eureka, Audrey tries to catch a shape-shifter on Haven, Mitchell's out for revenge on Being Human, a deadly jungle is thirsty for blood on Mandrake, Sookie's ready to give up fang-banging in the finale of True Blood, and Nick faces a nasty ghost on The Gates.

Tuesday, Sept. 7
Warehouse 13 (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Where and When"
When an evildoer begins turning women into glass, Pete and Myka use H.G. Wells' time machine to travel back to 1961 in a effort to stop the killer. David Anders (Heroes, The Vampire Diaries) pops in for a guest stint.

On Discovery's The Colony (10 p.m.), while trying to survive after a viral apocalypse, a stranger reveals himself to the colonists as issues regarding food resources arise in "Tick." And ABC's NightlinePrime: Secrets of Your Mind--Why We Do What We Do (10 p.m.) winds up the series in a special Tuesday outing as Martin Bashir explores the brain and overeating.
Wednesday, Sept. 8
Ghost Hunters (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Uninvited Guests"
The TAPS team heads to New Hampshire to investigate claims about "terrifying gargoyle ghosts" in "Uninvited Guests."

Psych (USA) 10 p.m. - "One, Maybe Two, Ways Out"
Guest Star Alert: Nestor Carbonell (Lost) returns for his second Psych outing in the big summer finale, when Shawn and Gus "Bourne it up" by taking on the case of a government spy who says she's been framed for a crime. Meanwhile, Shawn has trouble with the concept that Juliet has a new boyfriend in "One, Maybe Two, Ways Out."

On the History Channel's Chasing Mummies (10 p.m.), Zahi travels on horseback to the Falcon Gallery animal burial ground in the Saqqara in "Cursed."
Thursday, Sept. 9
The Vampire Diaries (The CW) 8 p.m. - "The Return"
Season premiere! The second-season premiere lets us know who survived the events of the finale as Elena stumbles in to find her uncle John and Jeremy's fates in "The Return." Meanwhile, Damon realizes that kiss wasn't from Elena, meaning that Katherine's back and posing as Elena. And everyone awaits Caroline's fate following the car accident, just as Tyler's mysterious Uncle Mason comes in for his brother's funeral.

Nikita (The CW) 9 p.m. - "Pilot"
New show! There's no promise that the CW's Nikita will slip into sci-fi the way the La Femme Nikita series did, but there's plenty of kickass action in this story about a rogue spy who takes on the clandestine government organization she once worked for to exact revenge. In the opening episode, a new recruit named Alex is brought in to Division, and Nikita (Maggie Q) comes out of hiding after three years with a message for her former handlers.

Destination Truth (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "Poltergeists of Pompeii/Nandi Beast"
Season premiere! The globetrotting truth seekers begin their fourth season with a trip to Pompeii to see if they can call up the spirits of those who died when the volcano blew, and then they're off to investigate the Nandi Beast of Africa in "Poltergeists of Pompeii/Nandi Beast."

Beast Legends (Syfy) 10 p.m. - "Kraken"
New show! This show is described as "a new six-part series that journeys around the world using scientific data to reconstruct what mythological monsters, from Krakens and Griffins to Fire Dragons, would have looked like." This week they release the Kraken!
Friday, Sept. 10
Eureka (Syfy) 9 p.m. - "I'll Be Seeing You"
Mid-season finale! When the bridge device is stolen in the midseason finale, Grant's disappearance makes him a suspect in "I'll Be Seeing You." Meanwhile, Carter and Jo find evidence that Grant is working with Beverly Barlowe and tragedy strikes.

Haven (Syfy) 10 p.m. - "As You Were"
When her Haven friends throw her a surprise birthday party, Audrey and the gang find themselves in trouble due to a vicious shape-shifter who has taken the shape of one of the partyers in "As You Were."

On the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures (9 & 10 p.m.), it's a double outing. First the team presents their "Best Evidence So Far" from the first two seasons. Then it's on to the "Scariest Moments Special" to explore the spookiest moments caught on film.
Saturday, Sept. 11
Being Human (BBC America) 9 p.m. - "Season 2, Episode 7"
Mitchell discovers Lucy's part in the vampire massacre and swears revenge. Meanwhile, Nina returns to tell George there may be a cure, and Annie gets a visitor who offers to help her pass on through the door.

Mandrake (Syfy) 9 p.m.
A group of scientists heads into the jungle and accidentally awakens a deadly plant-imal (half plant/half animal) thanks to a mystical dagger. Starring Betsy Russell, Max Martini and Benito Martinez.

Sunday, Sept. 12
True Blood (HBO) 9 p.m. - "Evil Is Going On"
Season finale! As we discover the result of Eric's plot to trick Russell into the final death, Sookie considers a life without vampires in the big season-three finale, "Evil Is Going On." Meanwhile, Lafayette's connection with Jesus grows, Tommy tests Sam's patience, and Jason considers another new career. Creator Alan Ball promises one thing ... someone is going to die.
(Also, you might want to tune in 20 minutes early for the Countdown to True Blood Finale (8:40 p.m.), which will likely be a summary of the season's events.)
