The Doctor Who teasers keep on coming, and we've got two more. Not only will the new season see the return of a classic villain—again—but a Time Lord regeneration taboo is apparently about to be broken!
First off, remember that pesky little problem of a regeneration limit of 12 that the Time Lord was going to face real soon, since the Doctor's already in his 10th regeneration, being the 11th Doctor?
Steven Moffat had claimed a while back that the issue would be resolved soon, and the task has fallen to none other than Russell T Davies, who will put the issue to rest once and for all in the upcoming The Sarah Jane Adventures episode titled Death of the Doctor. (The episode will air in the U.K. on Oct. 25 and 26 as a two-parter—no news yet when this will air in North America.)
According to Digital Spy (which has posted 10 teasers about the episode):
"The Doctor doesn't have to be white. And he can regenerate more than 12 times—a lot more!"
Good news, right? But exactly what it means and how the series will address it won't be known until the episode airs.
In other news, Moffat, who had claimed a few weeks back that the Daleks would not return now but that when they would return, "there will be lots of different kinds," seems to be making good on that promise.
In the Brilliant Book of Doctor Who, Moffat said:
"The fact is, we're not going to lose the old Daleks. We're keeping them. They're coming back. We'll just use them all at once, and have different ranks. All I've done is give the Daleks an officer class."
So we'll get both the new shiny and colorful Daleks that were introduced in Victory of the Daleks, as well as the old, classic ones, despite the fact that they had seemingly perished during the episode.
So what do you think of this news? Excited to knowing the the powers that be will finally explain how the Doctor can regenerate more than 12 times? And are you looking forward to more Daleks? Or are you just sick of them?
While you think about it, here are two trailers for The Sarah Jane Adventures that also feature the Doctor, including a look at his first meeting with Sarah Jane.
