Zombie flicks are incredibly commonplace. Zombie romantic comedies? Not so much. But that's just what we've got with the first trailer for Warm Bodies, a film that could have gone the schmaltzy Twilight route, but instead seems to have veered into apocalyptic hilarity instead.
Adapted from the Isaac Marion novel of the same name, Warm Bodies looks to be a tale of zombie boy meets girl, zombie boy falls in love with girl thus slowly beginning the path toward being alive again, boy inadvertently causes a zombie revolution with said love.
With funnyman Rob Corddry involved and the bizarre but hysterical John Malkovich, the film's got a solid comedy pedigree.
As for the romance element, there seems to be a nice little metaphor in play, if a tad heavy-handed. After all, don't we all have times where the grind of day-to-day life makes us feel more than a little dead inside? And there's nothing quite like love at first sight to cure what ails you.
Here's the trailer. Tell us if you think this has got what it takes to break from the usual zombie fare.
