It’s been a long time coming, but Terrence Malick’s long-gestating epic about the universe and life itself is almost here. Want a peek?
The project, Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey, is being cut into a 45-minute IMAX version (narrated by Brad Pitt) and a 90-minute version (narrated by Cate Blanchett) that will make its debut at the Venice Film Festival. The film aims to serve as an “exploration into our planetary past and a search for humanity’s place in the future. Humming with the energy of nature itself, the film melds innovative special effects with awe-inspiring footage from around the globe, in search of what lasts, what endures through time’s changing scenes.”
Ahead of the Venice Film Festival debut today, the studio has dropped two new clips that certainly live up to the hugely ambitious hype. The more we see, the more we understand why it took Malick to long to actually pull this thing off. Wrap it around your head in IMAX? Yeah, it should be stunning.
The IMAX cut opens wide Oct. 7.
