The upcoming The Flash/Supergirl two-part crossover has finally found its Music Meister. According to TV Line, the musical extravaganza has tapped Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin's fellow Glee alum Darren Criss to play the role of the DC villain.
Interestingly, the character wasn't created in the pages of the DC Comics but rather for the animated TV series, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Music Meister was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris (who was THE fan choice for the live-action role), and the villain was capable of hypnotizing and controlling people thanks to his singing voice, making them sing and dance and do stuff against their will.
The crossover will begin with Supergirl on March 20 before wrapping up the following evening with the March 21 episode of The Flash, aptly titled "Duet." Even though the story will kick off with the Girl of Steel's TV series, most of the musical pieces will take place during the Flash episode. Confirmed to lend their pipes for the musical crossover are Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist, Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber, John Barrowman, Jeremy Jordan and Carlos Valdes.
"With our Flash and our Supergirl being Glee alums, how could we not have them go up against another Glee favorite like Darren Criss?" exec producer Andrew Kreisberg tells TVLine. "We have been blown away by his talent over the years and we can't wait to see what he brings to the Music Meister."
What do you think of Darren Criss as the Music Meister? Do you think he'll be able to nail the villainous role or would you have preferred to see Neil Patrick Harris bring his animated character to life?
