The shortlist of Han Solo hopefuls has now been narrowed down from what started as a big whopping list of 2, 500 actors (in what has been one of the widest casting calls ever) to eight, to a trio of young up-and-coming actors for the Phil Lord and Chris Miller-directed Star Wars spinoff film set in a galaxy far, far away.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the three names on the list are now Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures, Hail, Caesar!).
The information comes from sources who also reveal that a few more actors may also be in the final mix, but these three are the ones they know about. UPDATE: Variety reports that Blake Jenner (Glee) and Jack O'Connell (Unbroken) are also amongst the frontrunners.
They claim that tests (either screen tests or costume tests) took place in London last weekend and that Egerton, Reynor and Ehrenreich have emerged as the frontrunners, taken from a group of ten actors who met with the LEGO Movie directors. Those included Miles Teller (Fantastic Four), Ansel Elgort (the Divergent movies) and Emory Cohen (Brooklyn).
This comes hot-on-the-heels of the awesome news that Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are finally reuniting for Indiana Jones 5 come July 19, 2019.
As for the Han Solo Star Wars anthology film, wich will boast a screenplay penned by father-and-son duo of Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, it is set to open in theaters in less than 12 parsecs on May 25, 2018.
Which of the three five young stars do you think is worthy of playing a young Han Solo? Or did your favorite not make the cut?
