Venom's 30th anniversary arrives this spring and the Venomverse is infiltrating every corner of the Marvel Universe with its symbiotic synchronicity.
With a torrent of Venom-related projects, crossovers, special events, and a new Venom feature film leaping into theaters this October from Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, the insidious alien creature has never been more in demand.
Created by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane, the evil sentient symbiote first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 in 1984 as an intrusive extraterrestrial substance that merged with Peter Parker, but the character nailed its first full appearance in 1988's The Amazing Spider-Man #300 after finding a suitable host in disgraced reporter Eddie Brock.
Anticipating the rabid revelry to come, Marvel has unleashed a sneak peek at nine of the 20 special variant covers set to ring in Venom’s big birthday bash.
Each of these Marvel mainline titles will receive a Venomized makeover and represents a key moment in Venom's three-decade history. It's an international celebration with both superstar and rising-star artists like Mark Bagley, Mike Perkins, Greg Horn, Rob Liefeld, Francesco Francavilla, Ron Lim, Inhyuk Lee, and more.
