The end of Voltron Legendary Defender Season 2 left the team in a precarious place: They could no longer form Voltron, thanks to Shiro disappearing after they defeated Zarkon. At San Diego Comic-Con, an audience of 2,200 fans got to see the next step, with the first episode of Season 3 debuting at their panel Thursday.

But fans at home don't have to wait too long, as the seven-episode third season of Voltron will hit Netflix August 4, 2017 -- just a couple of weeks from now. That will be followed just two months later by Voltron Legendary Defender Season 4, a six-episode season in October. The series will introduce a new villain, Prince Lotor, voiced by AJ Locasio, and deal directly with the status of the universe after Season 2's bittersweet victory.

"Season 3 picks up in the wake of Zarkon’s defeat and Shiro’s disappearance, as the paladins struggle to move forward with no one able to pilot the black lion or the ability to form Voltron," the new synopsis reads. "The team must quickly devise a plan as the ascension of Prince Lotor and his generals pulls the team into a perilous game of cat-and-mouse that tests their unity and abilities more than ever before."

Watch the trailer below and prepare to form Voltron again next month!
