AMC's zombie smash, like the comic book before it, is a critical and financial success—so we suppose it was only a matter of time before The Walking Dead spread to interactive media as well. And it makes perfect sense.
Videogame website 1UP reports that it received an invitation from Telltale Games—who've produced titles based on properties like Back to the Future, Jurassic Park and Wallace & Gromit—for an event where they'll be making some new-product announcements, including:
"one based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it."
There are only but so many things that fit that description ... and The Cape ain't it.
Zombie games are nothing new under the sun: Finding one on the shelves is about as easy as stumbling into a shambler in Atlanta. But a Walking Dead game needs to be more than a simple "shoot the zombies in the head and run" affair. It needs to, much like the Mass Effect series, allow for character progression and story development, while still delivering the dome-splattering thrill that only a game can.
