Most Walking Dead fans have been pulling for Daryl (Norman Reedus) to wind up with Carol (Melissa McBride) — but it sounds like Reedus thinks he might be a better fit for someone else.
In a wide-ranging chat with Vulture, the fan-favorite star opened up about everything from the early pitch for his character (he was first conceived as a drug addict) to why he turned down a spot in Brad Bird’s upcoming sci-fi flick Tomorrowland (it required a major haircut).
But the most interesting tidbit was what he thought about a potential Daryl/Michonne hookup. The two zombie ass-kickers have been spending a fair bit of time together the past few episodes, and their characters definitely have some good chemistry.
Though he thinks they might make a nice fit (at least in the bedroom), Reedus said he believes any future relationship for Daryl has to be earned by the character:
“She's cute. They would have really good sex, I bet. And that's definitely one way to blow off steam. They try to pair me up with everyone. But whatever happens, I want that character to earn it. I don't think he's the type of guy to go, ‘Come here, babe.’ You know what I mean? He's sort of a harder nut to crack, no pun intended.”
It’ll be interesting to see if and when Michonne ever does become a love interest for anyone (as fans of the comic know, she was definitely a romantic figure in Robert Kirkman’s book), but Reedus’ comments definitely open up an intriguing new option.
What do you think? You still waiting for Daryl and Carol to happen, or should Michonne swoop in?
