The war is over in first look at Marvel's Civil War II epilogue The Oath

Marvel Comics’ super-sized Civil War II event is coming to a close, and now we have a first look at the lingering threads that will be left dangling.

The after-series is being written by Nick Spencer with art by Rod Reis, and is subtitled The Oath. Spencer looks to be bringing his standby Steve Rogers into the mix here, as Cap is tasked with figuring out how the world will work in the wake of Iron Man and Captain Marvel’s epic clash. It sounds like The Oath will be picking up the ol’ Steve Rogers/Hydra twist, as his real intent (and role in the war) begins to unravel (if you need help with it, just ask Ganke over in Spider-Man).

Civil War II has broken a whole lot of stories the past few months, and The Oath will have its work cut out for it to put the pieces back together moving forward. We get to see Steve apparently taking on a more active role with S.H.I.E.L.D., and we get a look at the genesis of Hawkeye’s next story kicking off in Occupy Avengers.

The first issue of Civil War II: The Oath hits shelves Jan. 25.
