To say AMC's Preacher is a labor of love would be an understatement. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are executive producers as well as writers and directors on the upcoming series. In a new behind the scenes featurette we get an inside look at how Preacher came to be. Rogen's love for the property started well over 10 years ago, when he first encountered the comic.
In the following video, we meet several member's of the creative team. The excitement they have for the show is palpable. Executive producer James Weaver credits Rogen and Goldberg for getting Preacher on the small screen. He declares, "Seth and Evan's childhood passion has willed this into existence." The unique story and characters are the main reason it's taken so long to develop. Weaver explains, "The comic set up like an awesome pantheon of amazingly cool characters. The three leads Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) are going to blow people's minds."
Among a growing landscape of comic and fantasy adaptations, Preacher is in a league of its own. It approaches drama, comedy and horror in a completely different way. That's what will make it stand out from the pack. On the surface, the show looks like a tale about a son reclaiming his father's church. But in reality, it's much more than that.
