"You know what's so great? And so appropriate that this panel is a giant cluster****," said Critical Role cast member Laura Bailey. "This panel is Vox Machina."
There was a bit of a rough start for the Critical Role cast's Q&A panel at this year's C2E2. Matt Mercer, Liam O'Brien, Sam Riegel, Marisha Ray, Taliesin Jaffe, Travis Willingham, and Bailey were given a very warm welcome by the Chicago crowd. However, the lack of a moderator or even organization for the panel briefly led to some chaotic moments.
Still, it was stunning to see the Critical Role fans who came out in force to support the show. In just three years, Geek and Sundry's RPG streaming series has amassed a passionate following that just can't get enough of these nerdy voice actors and their ever-evolving Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
When the panel and the crowd finally settled down, Jaffe told the crowd his most challenging Critical Role moments come when he tries an accent he's never attempted before. He also said that the fan art is the most rewarding aspect of the show. Shortly after that, the cast shared their tips for staying in character. For Willingham, that included talking to himself with his chosen voice in the bathroom, while Bailey revealed she enjoys singing in the car in character. Mercer also offered up some insight into how he comes up with names for the exotic locations he creates by drawing upon history and other sources.
