Way back before The Exorcist was a horror classic, it was just a controversial flick the studio was trying to figure out how to promote. So, want to see the trailer that was deemed too terrifying?
The original 1972 trailer that was developed to promote the horror flick has surfaced online — and it’s definitely unsettling. It opens with a voiceover setting up the premise, then devolves into freaky quick cuts of demon faces and freakier Linda Blair shots, all set to a tense, building score.
Aside from the demonic undertones, it’s curious that the studio deemed this trailer too controversial to use. Sure, it’s unsettling -- but it’s not like it showed any of the way-more-disturbing scenes included in the actual film.
