Yesterday, via Star Wars Celebration, we got more information about Star Wars: The Force Awakens than we've ever had before, including a few new little tidbits of plot, new promo art and of course that stunning new trailer for the film. Fans who were already looking forward to the film got more excited, a few cynics learned to believe again, and we all got to welcome Han Solo back into our lives, if only for a moment. If you're a Star Wars fan, it was a pretty great day.
But of course, there's much more to Star Wars Celebration than a couple of minutes of new footage, and while you can't see it all if you're not there, this year the event has provided livestream events for us to enjoy from our desks. One such event, broadcast yesterday morning, was the Force Awakens panel, which concluded with the unveiling of that amazing new trailer. The panel featured director and co-writer J.J. Abrams, producer Kathleen Kennedy, new stars Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and John Boyega, old stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew, and of course, a look at the adorable new droid BB-8 in action.
For most of yesterday, if you didn't catch this panel live you were stuck just reading about it, or seeing brief low-quality clips taken on someone's phone, but now the official Star Wars YouTube channel has put the whole thing up for everyone to watch and watch again. If you didn't catch it the first time, you're getting much more than the trailer. You get Kennedy talking about diversifying the Star Wars universe, Abrams talking about practical sets, Isaac, Boyega, and Ridley spilling a few details about their characters, and BB-8 in action, which really does have to be seen to be believed.
