Season 3, part one, of Gotham ended spectacularly, with Ed Nygma returning Penguin to the sea. But the second part, the cast assures us, will be equally spectacular. We spoke with Jessica Lucas (Tabitha), Drew Powell (Butch), Erin Richards (Barbara) and Corey Michael Smith (Ed Nygma) at WonderCon about their characters’ devious machinations—as if there were any other kind.
Although the actors were reasonably tight-lipped about details, we know a little more than we did before. The next episode, “How the Riddler Got His Name,” will be a coming-out party of sorts for Nygma, as he reveals to the world just how evil he is.
Meanwhile, Butch and Tabitha want to kill Nygma, but are unable to as Barbara needs him to win friends and influence some very bad people. But as Powell said, “Now’s not the right time. There’s this kind of epic battle that’s going to be set up that I can’t tell you anything more than that. But it’s about aligning yourself and biding your time.”
Biding my time? Damn, how much longer do I have to wait? Mercifully, not too much: “How the Riddler Got His Name” will be airing on April 24, 2017.
