Marvel TV has had a strong showing at San Diego Comic-Con. Thursday, the studio kicked things off with a Netflix panel, which set the stage for several upcoming projects. Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders all got a moment to shine. Most notably: The last, which is a team-up series that will feature all four of Netflix's street-level heroes.
Blastr spoke with Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker about the massive effort being put into The Defenders. They're essentially taking The Avengers route, but Coker explains how The Defenders is different than the big-screen super-team. How different? He says The Defenders are basically the superhero version of the legendary rap group Wu-Tang Clan.

Luke Cage is one of the key pieces of the Defenders puzzle. Audiences were introduced to the character -- as played by Mike Colter -- in Marvel's Jessica Jones. Now headlining his own series, Cocker believes fans will really see how perfect Colter is for the role.
Luke Cage premieres Sept. 30 of this year, while The Defenders debuts in 2017.
