If the popularity of last year's viral Pokémon Go phenomenon is anything to go by, then fans should be desperate to catch this movie come November.
The first English-language trailer for the upcoming Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You -- the 20th movie in the series -- has been released, and it’s all kinds of cute and collectable.
Die-hard fans of the original anime series will be pleased to know that rather than being a gimmick to complement the recent viral game that swept across America, the movie looks set to be an origin story that stays somewhat faithful to the source material. That's not to say it won't also reignite players' appetites to go chasing after a galloping Ponyta, but still.
It has been billed as a loose retelling of the original Indigo League saga of the show (released to commemorate the anime's 20th anniversary), and judging by its trailer it’ll be filled with comedy and charm as we get drawn into the world inhabited by the mysterious and powerful creatures known as Pocket Monsters.
In fact, it feels as though now is the perfect time to go back to the story of how 10-year-old trainer Ash Ketchum winds up with the unruly Pikachu as he attempts to become a Pokémon Trainer. Certainly, those who got swept up with the game last year will share some of his frustration.
Will you be trying to catch them all at a movie screening near you? It's hitting theaters on Nov. 5, 2017. Let us know in the comments below.
