A new trailer for Jose Padilha’s RoboCop reboot has arrived, showing off a ton of new action footage — plus a healthy dose of Samuel L. Jackson. What more could you want?
Following a nice intro from Padilha, the trailer kicks off with Samuel L. Jackson’s Pat Novak doing his best to convince America that we need to have robots on the streets to cut down on crime. It’s a rousing speech, and Jackson looks like he’s having a lot of fun in the role.
Then the action ramps up. We get a quick setup for Joel Kinnaman’s new version of Alex Murphy, then we get to see him kick a mountain of ass for the next two minutes. The highlight? Some great footage from a training session, where RoboCop takes out an entire room full of drones.
Though we’ve been burned by some '80s reboots in recent memory (see: Total Recall), the more we see of Padilha’s RoboCop the more we seem to like. If nothing else, he at least has a good grasp of how to break up the melodrama and action with some humor, which goes a long way in selling the premise.
