Last week, we got the first trailer for Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny, a new series of animated shorts narrated by Maz Kanata and featuring prominent female characters in the Star Wars galaxy like Rey, Leia, Jyn Erso, Padme, Sabine and Ahsoka, to name a few.
The first episode, "Sands of Jakku," was released today on the Disney YouTube channel and highlights a moment we didn't get to see on film but gives us a little more backstory on BB-8 and Rey's relationship, not to mention an idea of just what was lurking under the sands the day they met.
A new 2-3-minute short episode will be released every day at 10 a.m. PDT/EDT between now and July 9, when they'll air as one half-hour special on the Disney Channel. Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is written by Jennifer Muro and voiced by Lupita Nyong'o, Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones, Ashley Eckstein, Tiya Sircar and more amazing Star Wars ladies.
Let us know what you think of the first episode after you watch it below, and may the Force be with you.
