WATCH: The Gifted will explain why the X-Men disappeared

The Gifted stars Jamie Chung (Blink), Coby Bell (Jace Turner) and Sean Teale (Eclipse) spoke with SYFY WIRE at New York Comic Con about what viewers can expect to see on the X-Men TV series in the coming season and (yay for us!) they let slip a few intriguing tidbits.

Starting with this one ...

"We do refer back to the X-Men and the tragedy that took all the X-Men away. I think that will be explained more later on in the season but you do get bits and pieces as to why they’ve disappeared," teased the former Gotham actress (Chung).

Could that tragedy be the same one referred to in Logan? In the movie, we learned Professor X killed the X-Men by accident when his powers went out of control.

That'll remain to be seen, of course, but it’s going to be exciting to find out what happened to the X-Men on the Fox series. Teale said about Season 1 to "Expect the unexpected," adding "We've got some new people coming in, that throws the show on its head and shakes it up-and-down non-stop. The ideas for the finale are upstanding."

Chung also referred to those "new people" and said "There’s actually two characters and they are playing our villains. They’re gonna be introduced mid-season and I think people are going to be very excited about it."

Dig into the video below and chime in with your thoughts. Do you believe the new villain characters will be mutants? If so, who do you think they could be? The Gifted returns tonight on Fox.
