Be afraid, be very afraid. Because Fox has unveiled a chilling extended promo for the fourth season of Gotham, and it features the arrival of the terrifically creepy-looking new villain, the Scarecrow.
The title of the promo is “Learn what it means to fear,” and judging by the frightening new footage, the show is set to do just that when it returns later this month.
“What scares you the most?” Scarecrow asks in a menacing tone in the promo below, while promising that he’s going to “show Gotham what it means to fear.” That's right, Bruce Wayne, it’s time for you to go full-on Batman now and get your cape on quick.
At the end of Season 3, Bruce (David Mazouz) was slowly stepping into the batsuit, and now it seems he’s got a good reason to embrace his vigilante alter-ego. Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) could certainly use his help, too, as he prepares to face a new threat that promises to be much more dangerous than the Penguin.
Not that Gordon will be necessarily over-the-moon about the sudden support from the mystery anti-hero. Executive producer John Stephens said in a recent interview with DC All Access that "Bruce Wayne is going to go out there and start operating as a vigilante wearing a mask, and we'll see him learning the skills that will one day be used as Batman."
Stephens also mentions that Gordon will then figure this out, and we’ll see the pair going head-to-head. Which is all well and good, guys, but don’t forget about the Scarecrow, OK?
Also making exciting appearances in the promo are Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) and Poison Ivy (Maggie Geha). Gotham Season 4 premieres Sept. 21. Will you be watching?
