Created by Matt Nix (Burn Notice), Fox’s mutant-filled series The Gifted is set at a time when the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants have vanished. It follows the Strucker family as they go on the run when they discover their two teenage kids, played by Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White, are mutants.

True Blood’s Stephen Moyer stars in the role of family patriarch Reed Strucker, while fan favorite Amy Acker (Angel, Person of Interest) plays his wife, Kate Strucker. The actors were at this year's New York Comic Con, where they chatted with SYFY WIRE about their characters being on the run with their kids as well as being in the thick of things instead of on the sidelines.

"That's what sets this apart from the other shows is that we're all together as a family, we're in there really fighting the fight with our kids, and discovering this from a different point of view that you don't usually see," said Acker. "So it's been exciting to get that other perspective and see maybe what you would do if your kid was a mutant."

"What they've done very well with the show is we end up being the sort of ordinary humans. The normal and the abnormal," Moyer added. "And therefore we represent the audience in that respect. We are reacting to what the kids are going through in real time; at the same time as the audience is reacting to the same things. I think it's a good conduit through which the audience gets to experience everything."
