WATCH: Todd McFarlane draws Spawn for us

When you want to learn the trick to drawing Spawn, who better to learn from than his creator?

Todd McFarlane's signature character, who he first created as a teenager before refining him and introducing him to the world at Image Comics, is turning 25 this year. Syfy Wire figured having the Toddfather giving us a drawing demo of Al Simmons' alter-ego was a nice way to pay tribute. Pay close attention to when he talks about the common mistake most people make when first drawing Spawn.

McFarlane mainly draws on a computer these  days. He explains in the video why he mostly prefers this style of penciling and inking, which is primarily about efficiency. He does a great job of illustrating (pun intended) the benefits to working digitally, and we think you'll agree the finished product is gorgeous. The real downside for McFarlane moving away from traditional pencil and ink on paper is for art collectors. This only means the price for original McFarlane comic art will keep going up, and up, and up, and ...

Anway, if you're a fan of Spawn or just a fan of McFarlane's inimitable art style, check out the video below. Then go to the comments and let us know what you think, and what other comic artists you'd like to see sketch for us!
