One of the most mysterious shows of the fall is (not surprisingly) coming from J. J. Abrams, and now we finally have a good look at what he’s putting together for his NBC series Believe.
With the show slotted for midseason on NBC’s fall schedule, it will be a while until we actually get to see it. But here’s the next best thing: Both the trailer, and pilot script, have leaked online.
The show, built around a young girl with supernatural powers and her ex-con protector, will follow the duo as they travel to different cities changing lives. It sounds like a bit of action, mystery, and pseudo-religious intrigue.
Even better? In addition to Abrams (Lost, Revolution), the series is also produced and directed by Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men), which is a pretty solid pedigree for any sci-fi series to boast. Also, the trailer seems to be a solid representation of what shows up in the script (most notably the dialog). As if we needed more convincing, it definitely looks to be one of the most unique projects of the year.
Judging by the script (dated January 19, 2013), the pilot does a solid job of setting up the exposition and ramping up the story with some mystery and an action-packed jailbreak. We also get a look at the young girl’s powers, where her screech summons some birds to surround someone (it’ll be interesting to see if that makes more sense on-screen).
Do you plan on watching this one this fall?
