Even if you're sick of vampires, this new bloodsucker comedy just might win you over.
What We Do In the Shadows has been drawing acclaim ever since it premiered at Sundance back in January, and the buzz is still building thanks to its summer release in Australia and New Zealand. It could be set to breathe new life into a horror-comedy landscape full of over-the-top spoofs, and the first trailer for the film's upcoming U.S. release has only added to our anticipation.
Written and directed by the longtime comedy team of Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Taika Waititi (Green Lantern), who also star in the film, What We Do in the Shadows is a mockumentary built on a simple premise: What if a documentary crew got access to a group of centuries-old vampires who all share a house? From there, the film takes off into many different comedic directions, ranging from vampires adjusting to modern life to vampires dating elderly women who are actually quite young to them, and vampires still trying to keep their existence secret despite being filmed by a camera crew. For me, though, the biggest laugh came when they encounter a group of werewolves.

What We Do in the Shadows arrives in U.S. theaters on Feb. 13, 2015.
