It’s been a long ride, but now we finally have our first look at veteran filmmaker Joe Dante’s quirky new horror-comedy flick Burying the Ex. This could be our new favorite B movie.
The film follows a young man (Anton Yelchin) who moves in with his girlfriend (Ashley Greene), only to realize they’re are extremely incompatible as housemates. But while he’s debating how to break up with her, she’s hit by a bus. So ... problem solved, right? Sure, at least until his would-be ex comes back from the grave (rotting corpse and all) wanting to rekindle the relationship.
The film was actually shot in late 2013, starring Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Ashley Greene (Twilight), Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson) and Oliver Cooper (Project X). Considering they’re all on the way up these days in regard to trajectory, it makes sense that this one is finally getting close to a roll out.
Burying the Ex was directed by Dante, which sets it a spot or two above your typical B-movie fare. Dante remains a living legend thanks to his cult hit contributions to cinema, such as Gremlins and Small Soldiers. He’s been kicking around the TV circuit in recent years, directing some episodes of Hawaii Five-0 and Witches of East End.
