One of the coolest aspects of the Planet of the Apes franchise is that it’s sometimes hard to tell who’s on the good side and who’s on the bad; it’s not clear-cut by any means. So who do you root for?
At the red carpet premiere for the latest film in the epic franchise, War for the Planet of the Apes, we posed that very question to some of the artists responsible for bringing the film to life: motion-cap actor extraordinaire Andy Serkis, screenwriter/exec producer Mark Bomback, producer Amanda Silver and writer Aleks Paunovik. And it turned out to be a really great question, too, as you’ll see from the thought-provoking answers in the video below.
We also caught up with two of the most import pieces of the Apes puzzle, visual effects supervisors Joe Litteri and Dan Lemmon, and found out why effects in close, intense, emotional scenes are even more important than those in massive battles.
Check out all the fun below, then let us know who you’ll be rooting for when War for the Planet of the Apes opens wide this weekend.
