Ever since Rey (Daisy Ridley) made her debut in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens as a scavenger living by herself on the planet Tatooine Jakku, barely making a living scavenging parts from ships and doggedly awaiting the return of her parents, who left her there as a kid, fan theories as to whom the young woman’s folks could be have been conjured to and fro.

Could Rey be Luke’s (Mark Hamill) long-lost daughter? The missing sister of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and thus the child of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and General Leia (Carrie Fisher)? Or is she somehow related to Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor/Alec Guinness)? After all, the young woman proved to be a powerful Force wielder in The Force Awakens, and we can only hope we'll finally get the answer we've all been waiting for when The Last Jedi opens in a few days.

SYFY WIRE’s Jackie Jennings was on hand during New York Comic Con to ask the burning questions about Rey’s parentage of fans, turning to Spider-Man, Deadpool, the Super Mario Brothers, the Carrie Kelley version of Robin, and more for the answer. So far, the consensus seems to be that Rey is either Luke’s child or a daughter or grand-daughter of Ben Kenobi. Have a look at the video and let us know about your very own fan theories about Rey's parentage in the comments below.
