There was a lot of exciting stuff going on this week in geekdom, with Marvel at the center of attention, thanks to two major events: a purple carpet for Black Panther and the release of the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp. To decide which was bigger, once again, we return with a new video edition of Who Won the Week, but this one may be tough to call.

Back for this week’s edition is SYFY WIRE’s Editor-in-Chief Adam Swiderski, who is joined by the ever-insightful Jackie Jennings. The dynamic duo team up to take a look back at the week of Jan. 29 through Feb. 2, while also touching upon this year’s Harry Potter celebrations, which Jennings attended down in Orlando, Florida (we'll have more on that soon, so stay tuned).

SYFY WIRE also attended the Black Panther purple carpet this week (see below), and met with several of the actors, producers, and directors who have been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (including TV) over the years. In case you haven’t had the chance to see our coverage yet, head on over here and here to see our interviews. One thing that definitely stood out was star Lupita Nyong’o’s stunning purple dress with the armor-looking, bejeweled gold ornament. Simply stunning. Black Panther is currently garnering some great buzz, with talk of Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger possibly being the best Marvel villain since Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

Then we have the trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp, which gave us a look at its gender-swapped and traditional Iron Man villain, Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster/Goliath. We also got a look at the Microverse for about five amazing frames. Plus, if anyone had any doubts director Peyton Reed would be able to replicate the same brand of humor that was a staple of the first film, the trailer easily put them to rest.

So check out the video above, then let us know what's your personal choice for who won the week.
