You've seen it a thousand times in movies ranging from The Matrix to Sucker Punch to anything with a Marvel hero in it: When a hero (or villain) jumps from something high or flies in from the wild blue yonder they always, always make a perfect three-point landing. A landing we'll now call the Super Crouch.
I couldn't tell you why this pose—which in almost any other context would be a bow to someone of a higher station—has come to connote coiled power, but it has. Maybe it's a function of seeing so many beloved protagonists do it.
Hell, I don't care: It's just cool.
