Waxwork Records, the New Orleans-based premium vinyl company responsible for issuing deluxe editions of cult, out-of-print and remastered Hollywood soundtracks, is exploring the realm of comic books with a new endeavor called Waxwork Comics.

Their first offering will be a 32-page anthology horror comic in the grand tradition of William Gaines' classic EC Comics titled House of Waxwork #1, and will be packaged with a 7″ companion vinyl record composed of original music to listen to as your peruse the pages in the dark.

Here's the official press release:

Waxwork Comics is excited to release their debut comic book series, HOUSE OF WAXWORK. Featuring all new content from contemporary writers, illustrators, and composers, HOUSE OF WAXWORK is a rousing horror-anthology series packed with macabre tales of ghouls, ghosts, witchcraft, the occult, the living dead, revenge, and so much more. Readers will meet original and inventive characters such as The Die-Rector and The De-Composer, and will be fully immersed in the terrifying, original soundtrack music featured on the companion 7” colored vinyl that comes with each issue.

The first lurid tale, “Occult Slumber Party,” was written by Gabe Soria (Batman ’66) and is paired with atmospheric notes from Douglas Pipes (Krampus, Trick ‘r Treat), as horror fans “discover what happens to an unsuspecting vacationing family when a cursed board game thrusts them into an actual fight for survival.”

Waxwork founder Kevin Bergeron wrote the second story, “Lighthouse Keeper," a fable that "will blur the lines between reality, the supernatural, and vengeance, culminating with a horrific twist.” The appropriately named Creeper provides the spooky music.

The 32-page debut issue comic and 7″ record are priced at $14.95 and can be purchased HERE.
