Friends and fans,
So, if you’re a regular visitor, you’ll notice something different about our site today: Blastr has changed its name to Syfy Wire. Long-time readers might wonder why we’ve resurrected a name that hasn’t been heard ‘round these parts in years, newcomers might wonder what the big deal is, and everyone else might just wonder when then will be now (Answer: Soon).
Here’s what’s up: Syfy, the TV channel, has always been our corporate parent. Now, by aligning our name more closely with the network, we’re setting the stage to be able to reach sci-fi, fantasy and horror fans in bigger, broader and more exciting ways.
I want to assure everyone – our readers, their friends and family, Uatu the Watcher – that Syfy Wire will remain editorially independent and not beholden to Syfy’s programming.
Will we cover Syfy shows? Sure – but only if they fit with what we normally talk about. Likewise, we’ll follow other properties -- The Flash, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, etc. -- with the same level of fervor we’ve always had.
So, what's changing? For now, just the name, but stay tuned -- we have big plans for 2017, including some new initiatives we’re really excited about and new ways to deliver them and connect with you, our (passionate, dedicated, incredibly attractive) audience.
I’d like to thank you, both personally and on behalf of all of us, for reading and watching our stuff – you guys are the dilithium crystals to our warp core. We’re looking forward to a bright and shiny future as Syfy Wire, and we’ll see you out there on the front lines of fandom.
