It's packed with some of Joss Whedon's favorite sci-fi stars ... but it's not sci-fi.
While finishing up The Avengers, Whedon decided to do something decidedly smaller in scope with his directorial talents. So he got together some friends, used his own house as a location, and shot an adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing in just 12 days. The Shakespearean comedy is given an updated setting and a noir feel (it was shot in black and white for extra noir fun), but where things get really interesting is the cast.
It's a veritable who's who of Whedon favorites, including Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker (both of Angel), Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), Clark Gregg (The Avengers), Sean Maher (Firefly), Reed Diamond (Dollhouse), Frank Kranz (Dollhouse) and Tom Lenk (Buffy and Angel). It's not sci-fi, fantasy or horror, but for true Whedonites it'll be fun just to see all of our old friends together again.
Check out the trailer below. Much Ado About Nothing hits theaters June 7.
