We know Tony Stark, so we know he was undoubtedly quipping it up in that new footage from the German Avengers trailer we saw, even if we couldn't understand exactly what he was saying. But now, thanks to a translator, we can be in on the joke.
That new trailer features two new snippets of footage, both Iron Man-heavy and both rather jokey in tone. The first, at around the 58-second mark, features Tony Stark and Steve Rogers squaring off and ... having words, shall we say. Upstanding patriot that he is, Rogers is all about being serious in the moment, while Stark is all about ruining it for him.
Here's the exchange:
Tony: And following orders is obvious(ly) not my style.
Cap: And everyone knows that style is all you care about.
Tony: Of all the people around here, who wears the most figure-hugging outfit?
The second new clip, coming in at the very end of the trailer at about 2:14, features Stark literally prodding at Bruce Banner, prompting more good old-fashioned American seriousness from Rogers.
Tony: I promise a stress-free environment. No surprises.
Tony: You really got it under control, don't you? What's your secret? Relaxing jazz, bongo drums?
Cap: Is everything like a joke to you?
Tony: If it's funny!
So, there you have it. Even when the world is apparently under attack by giant snakelike ships from another world, Tony Stark is ready to bring a little levity to the situation.
