The first teaser trailer for Yahoo’s upcoming sixth season of Community has arrived, and we can’t wait to get the gang back together again. Dan Harmon is back, and he’s weirder than ever.
The teaser trailer is essentially a sizzle reel for the quirky sci-fi-tinged sitcom spliced with some new footage, and it seems to bear a striking resemblance to what was reportedly shown to folks in attendance at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel.
It wraps up some of the zaniest highlights from the first five seasons — well, except for the Harmon-less fourth year, which is represented by the cast gagging from a noxious gas — and teases the birth of the “Bionic Show” that doesn’t need ratings to survive. It might seem crazy, but a web network with deep pockets might just be the best home for the series.
Yahoo seems genuinely psyched to have Community on its roster, which is more than you could ever say for NBC, which seemed to keep the series alive solely because there wasn’t anything that’d perform better in the timeslot. This might just be the beginning of a new era of Community, with Harmon and the gang free to get as weird as they want.
Lesser shows might drown under all that freedom, but Community has always been at its best when Harmon fought and clawed to go weird — then a little weirder — and we can’t wait to see what he does with the studio’s backing.

The trailer does not reveal a release date for the new season, though Harmon has teased we likely won’t see anything until the end of the year. Whenever it arrives, we can’t wait to re-enroll.
