Filming on Daredevil’s third season has begun, but Netflix is still rounding out its cast. Charlie Cox (Matt “Daredevil” Murdoch), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Franklin “Foggy” Nelson), and Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk) will be reprising their roles. And now, the cast can count one more talented actor in its ranks: Wilson Bethel.

According to Variety, Bethel will play an FBI agent who has a “critical role” in the struggle between Daredevil and his arch-nemesis, Kingpin. Bethel comes on to Daredevil as a series regular.

Although Netflix has yet to confirm storyline details, fans are speculating that Season 3 of Daredevil may follow the comic-book story arc “Born Again,” which shows Matt recovering from his wounds in a convent — which is exactly where we last see Matt in the final shot of The Defenders.

“Born Again,” which ran for seven issues in 1986, starts with our beloved Karen as a porn star selling Daredevil’s identity in order to pay for heroin.

If that isn’t bad enough, when Kingpin learns of Daredevil’s true identity, he slowly but surely destroy Matt’s life. Matt loses his job, his apartment, and, eventually, his mind (though surprisingly, he finds his mother). It’s a brutal takedown of the character we know and love, courtesy of the grimy pen of Frank Miller.

We can only speculate as to Bethel’s role. And we’re speculating here that since Kingpin is currently in prison, the FBI will become involved when they notice crimes committed in Fisk’s name. Since Kingpin tears apart every aspect of Matt’s life, the FBI could be plenty busy. If we follow The Punisher story arc of Homeland Security agent Dinah Madani, Bethel's character will come to reluctantly trust Daredevil.

Bethel has had roles in The Astronaut Wives Club, How to Get Away with Murder, Generation Kill, and, most recently, the ABC digital comedy American Koko. He also starred in the soap opera The Young and the Restless

Daredevil Season 3 currently has no release date. But as you know, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen appears when you least expect him.
