As promised yesterday, 20th Century Fox has unleashed the first teaser trailer for The Wolverine sequel titled Logan.
Directed by James Mangold, the movie stars Hugh Jackman as the titular Canadian mutant, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce (he’s the leader of a team of mutant-hating cyborgs called the Reavers), Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, Stephen Merchant as Caliban and Richard E. Grant as Dr. Zander Rice. Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez also star.
The film is set in 2024 and is based on the Old Man Logan comic book storyline. Apparently, Logan’s healing powers aren't working so good anymore (hence the scars), mutants are a dying breed (because of a virus), and a government organization called Transigen is running around taking young mutants and turning them into lethal weapons. Logan takes in a young mutant girl (said to be X-23, and from the trailer below, that seems about right) who was part of that program under his wing Adamantium claws.
Then you have Professor X, whose memory is waning and whose telepathic powers are on the fritz. As you can see below, Prof. X doesn’t look so good. And neither does Logan, for that matter (he's obviously on the booze). The whole thing is a tad depressing, to tell you the truth. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think. Logan will open in movie theaters on March 3, 2017.
