The worlds of John Carter of Mars and Tarzan of the Apes are about to collide when author Edgar Rice Burroughs' most famous characters team up for an epic adventure in a new series penned by none other than Elementals and Fables creator Bill Willingham.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, pulp action heroes John Carter, Tarzan and other Burroughs characters — including John Carter's main squeeze and Princess of Mars, Dejah Thoris — will come together for The Greatest Adventure, a new comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment.

Can I have a hell yeah?! Putting John Carter and Tarzan together for a grand adventure is just about the best news I've heard today.

The series will also include a minor book character named Jason Gridley, who discovers (by accident) the radio frequency that allows transmission between Earth and Barsoom (Mars) as well as Pellucidar (the hollow world at the center of the Earth).

Here's what the official solicitation says:

In ancient days, Jason gathered the greatest heroes of his age and set out on the ultimate sea voyage. Now, in Tarzan’s era, Jason Gridley does the same. The greatest heroes of the Edgar Rice Burroughs universe come together as the crew of the good ship Venture with none other than Tarzan as their captain. It's a race against a battleship of dark-hearted villains, and the fate of many worlds hangs in the balance.

Willingham will be joined by Cezar Razek, who has been tapped to illustrate the pages, while Cary Nord, Rags Morales and Roberto Castro are on cover art duties for the first issue -- you can see their artwork below.

The Greatest Adventure #1 will arrive in comic book stores and be available digitally on April 19.
