Wynonna Earp is back in Purgatory this summer, and she's bringing along some new supernatural friends. The series returns to Syfy for its second season on June 9.
The series, from creator Emily Andras, adapting the IDW comic series by Beau Smith, follows the great-great granddaughter of the famous gunslinger Wyatt Earp as she attempts to break her family curse. To do so, she must take down all 77 of Wyatt's revenants, shooting them in the face with her trusty magic demon-slaying gun, Peacemaker.
It seems the second season will have Wynonna and her friends facing new kinds of supernatural baddies who are finding their way to the Ghost River Triangle after last season's finale face-off. As we discovered in the showdown between Wynonna and her big sister Willa, the barrier around the county does more than keep the revenants in. It also keeps bigger bads out. And as we learned from Doc Holliday's encounter with Juan Carlo (if that's even his real name) there are some things out there that see Purgatory as more than just a prison for demons.
There are plenty of questions for the series to answer when it returns: What exactly happened to Waverly when she touched that black goo? Is she evil now? If Waverly isn't an Earp then who is she? How will Wynonna rescue Dolls from Black Badge? Is Dolls part-zombie? Part tiger? Part tiger-zombie? Will Nicole make everyone wear bullet proof vests?
Hopefully, we'll learn the answer to these pressing questions, and others, when the series returns. If you haven't had the chance to check out the series year, the entire first season arrives on Netflix this Saturday, April 1. The series stars Melanie Scrofano as Wynonna, Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday, Dominque Provost-Chalkley as Waverly Earp, and Shamier Anderson as Agent Dolls.
