Hopefully Olivia Munn has much more to do and say in Shane Black's The Predator reboot than she did in X-Men: Apocalypse as news of the Psylocke actress joining the cast of the upcoming sci-fi flick has spread around the water cooler. After Benicio Del Toro graciously declined to star in this continuation of the sci-fi series started with John McTiernan's Predator in 1987, Black has been trying to ramp up his cast, first with Narcos' Boyd Holbrook and now with Olivia Munn playing a scientist opposite Holbrook's special forces character.
The Austrian Oak, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been rumored to join the cast, reprising his role as the alien-slaying commando Major Dutch Schaefer, but no dried ink has been seen on contracts yet. This new installment in the Predator franchise was written by Black and Fred Dekker (Monster Squad, RoboCop 3), and its setting has been revealed to be the frightening landscape of suburban America. No exact plot details yet, but cameras are due to roll in February of 2017, with a firm release target date of Feb. 9, 2018 set by 20th Century Fox.
Are you thrilled to have Munn on board The Predator hunting party in more of an expanded capacity than her dull moments in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, or do you wish she'd spring off into another project?
UPDATED: According to a new report from Collider, Shane Black has informed them that the THR source article was incorrect and that his new Predator movie will not take place in the suburbs.
