Ladies and gentlemen, meet your new Batman (and get a closer look at his new ride).
Yesterday, Man of Steel sequel director Zack Snyder teased us with a look at the tarp-draped back of the new Batmobile, and hinted that we might be getting a closer look at the car "tomorrow." Today, Snyder not only delivered on his tease to show us the rest of the car, but brought its driver along with it. Behold, the Batman.
Snyder noted in his original Twitter post that the shot is deliberately monochromatic, so we don't know the exact color scheme of the costume just yet (though black, gray, and more black seems like a pretty safe bet). We can tell, though, from the short ears and the rather large logo on the chest that the costume is rather Dark Knight Returns-inspired, unlike any other Batsuit we've seen on the big screen so far. It's also definitely not done in the same body armor style of the Dark Knight-era suit. (Maybe he'll be able to turn his head right from the start?) And judging by the chin dimple, we'd say that yes, that's very likely Ben Affleck modeling his costume for us.
As for the Batmobile, the front view once again suggests a kind of hybrid that blends the militaristic design of the Tumbler with the more fantastic Burton-era Batmobile. It's a clever design, but personally I won't know whether I like it until I see it drive (I'm kinda weird like that).
So in a mere two days we went from no hint of Batman's look at all to a detailed view of his costume and a semi-detailed view of his car. This is our new Batman, like it or not. Now show us Wonder Woman!
What do you think? Did Snyder and company nail this design?
