The Master Timeline

So when you have a show that is all about time travel, timelines can be looked at as fluid. Actions in the past, or present, change the future. Something we saw may no longer have validity because, due to the rules of time, something was changed - or at worst, erased.

THIS timeline - the one you see below - is comprised of all the actual events that have occured as of this writing. For instance, an event - or the year of an event - from Season 1 may not be reflected on here because the below is the timeline of the entire series as it exists as of this moment, overridden/changed events included.

1750

Cassie and Cole chase The Witness (Athan) through time. (Episode #36)

1879

The Witness (Athan) is a young adult, having been raised in different time periods by the sole surviving Guardian of 1953’s massacre. Athan starts writing the Word of the Witness. Season 3

1891

Cassie and Cole come face to face with Athan, who flees through time. (Episode #36)

Season 3

1891

The now adult Witness (Athan), having travelled and lived through countless decades, meets a woman named Eliza. Athan falls in love with her, but she later dies. Athan is crushed, and we see why he became someone that wanted to destroy time. (Episode #35)

Season 3

1899

Cassie and Cole are nearly caught by Jones (but saved by Jennifer) before getting a vital clue on the Witness’ location. (Episode #34)

Season 2

1917

Jennifer is shuttled back to WWI. (Episode #26)

Season 3

1917

Thanks to the events of the Season 2 cliffhanger, Jennifer is stuck in France during World War I (Episode #27)

1922 (Month One)

Magdalena arrives from five months later to warn the guardians of the Witness of Cole’s arrival months later. They immediately leave France, altering the timeline so that five months later Cole, Jones and Jennifer never encounter them. (Episode #28)

1921

Jennifer, still stuck, writes postcards for Jones and Cole to find in the future in hopes of rescue. She also starts performing in one-woman shows. (Episode #28)

Season 3

1922 (Month Five)

Off future Cole’s advice, Jones and Cole rescue Jennifer from France and encounter the four guardians of the Witness. Some die, but one, Magdalena, travels months earlier to warn her earlier self of James’ arrival. Because of that, the guardians leave months earlier and the timeline is altered. (Episode #28)

Season 3

1940

Cassie and Cole chase The Witness (Athan) through time. (Episode #36)

Season 2

1944

Cassie and Cole arrive to track down some of the Army of the 12 Monkeys that traveled back from 2044 (and while in 1944, they take the picture that Cole later finds in 2016). They try to stop two Messengers who successfully assassinate Thomas Crawford and create a paradox. (Episode #16)

Season 2

1944

Ramse arrives from the future to bring Cole and Cassie back from the present. (Episode #17)

Season 3

1945

Deacon and Hannah, Jones’ daughter, almost catch Cassie and Cole, who are traveling through time looking for their son. (Episode #34)

Season 2

1951

Mantis, one of the Army of the 12 Monkeys who escaped Cole in 1944, gives birth to who will become the Pallid Man. (Episode #17)

Season 3

1953

With guidance from the Word of the Witness, Cole and Cassie arrive and discover that Mantis (the mother of the Pallid Man) and a man named Zaimon Shaw have started the Army of the 12 Monkeys by promising family members of the dead an escape from their pain. Zaimon introduces the Witness to the assembled crowd. Cassie and Cole see their son for the first time. (Episode #32)

Season 3

1953

Cole steals a prototype of a time travel suits which Jones soups up. The wearer can travel through time without the machine. (Episode #33)

Season 3

1953

Cole prepares to kill the child Witness, but finds that he can’t. Cassie arrives. One of the Guardians transports the Witness away. Cole steals a time machine suit from one of the dead Guardians. He and Cassie set out to locate their son. (Episode #33)

Season 2

1957

Cole, followed shortly by Cassie, arrives to stop the last paradox. (Episode #24)

Season 2

1957

Cole successfully prevents the Paradox. Previously, Cole did NOT stop it and he and Cassie stayed in the 50s and got pregnant (as detailed in Episode #25). However, advice from a time seer sent Cole back to 1957 to stop the Paradox, creating this event. Cole and Cassie are shuttled back to the future. (Episode #26)

Season 2

1959

Cassie finds Cole at the same house from her hallucinations. They reunite and finally make it official. (Episode #25)

Season 3

1959

Having caught The Witness (Athan), Cole and Cassie bring him to the place of his conception to get through to him. Jones arrives and shoots Athan, who splinters away. Jones, Cole and Cassie are kidnapped by Olivia, who has killed the Pallid Man and performed a coup of the Army of the 12 Monkeys. (Episode #36)

Season 3

1959

Just as Olivia is about to murder Jones, Cassie and Cole, The Witness (Athan) arrives from 2018 and saves them. They splinter away. Athan reveals to Olivia SHE is actually the Witness and her future self will engineer all the events the Witness has thus far. Olivia murders him. (Episode #36)

Season 2

1959

Cole visits Lillian, learns he needs to stop the paradox. (Episode #26)

Season 2

1961

Cassie, Ramse and Cole arrive in West Germany to find Dr. Kirschner, who might lead them to Titan City, where they believe The Witness is. Kirshner reveals he was visited by The Witness years ago and given information to create people immune to the effects of time. Kirshner experimented with Mantis’ (The Messenger Woman from 1944) eggs and the result was a little girl called The Sample. This little girl grew up to be Olivia. (Episode #23)

1971

Mantis dies. (Episode #17)

Season 2

1975

Cole and Ramse arrive to stop the killing of another Primary. They save a woman who was supposed to die, alternating the time stream in the process. (Episode #19).

Season 1

1987

Ramse arrives from the future to ensure the virus’ release, and Cole follows him to stop him. A wounded Cole jumps back to the future, but Ramse is thrown in jail. (Episode #11)

Season 3

1989

Jennifer, Deacon, Cassie and Cole arrive to make a photocopy of the Word of the Witness so they can locate him. (Episode #31)

Season 3

1990

An adult Cassie visits her mother, who died years later. The conversation makes her realize she wants to save, not kill, her son (The Witness). (Episode #33)

Season 1

1995

Olivia and the Army of the 12 Monkeys release Ramse from prison. Using his knowledge of the future, they amass huge wealth. (Episode #11)

Season 1

2006

Cole accidentally jumps to North Korea. (Episode #2)

Season 1

2007

Olivia and Ramse fund the manufacturing of the virus with the Markridge Group. Despite knowing this will kill billions, Ramse goes through with it as the creation of the virus is the only way to ensure the future where his son comes into existence. (Episode #11)

Season 3

2007

Ramse and Cole arrive from the future. Cole quickly realizes that Ramse wants to kill Cassie and that the Witness is his son. He kills Ramse to save Cassie. Jones, curious as to what really happened between Cole and Ramse, travels back and overhears the news about the Witness being Cole's son. (Episode #30, #33)

Jennifer Goines first visits the Night Room, the lab that houses the virus. (Episode #5)

2013

Cole, in his first time jump, arrives from 2043 and tells Cassandra he needs her help in stopping a virus. (Episode #1)

Season 1

2014

Cole travels to Haiti to interrogate Cassandra's colleague, Henri, who may know the location of the Night Room, where the virus is held. (Episode #3)

Season 1

2015

Cole, with Cassandra by his side, kills Dr. Leland Goines in hopes of stopping the virus. It doesn’t work and Cole realizes he must continue his time travels to stop the virus. (Episode #1)

Season 1

2015

Thanks to information learned in his travels to 2014, Cole and Cassandra track the location of the virus to the Night Room, where Jennifer Goines is being held. (Episode #5)

Season 1

2015

After Cassandra dies and an alternative timeline is created, Cole travels back to moments before her death in order to prevent it and preserve the timeline. (Episode #6)

Season 1

2015

Cole arrives from seven days in the future, where he learned from Cassandra about Operation: Troy, a covert military mission where the virus is released. Cole seemingly dies in an explosion. (Episode #7)

Season 1

2015

Seven days later, Cole visits Cassandra and Aaron to learn the location of Operation: Troy (where the virus was spread). He learns the virus was deployed seven days earlier. To Cole, this is new information and he travels seven days to the past to stop the virus. Cassandra, however, remembers Cole arriving - and seemingly dying - seven days earlier. To preserve the timeline and ensure Cole successfully stops the virus, she must give him Operation: Troy's location and send him to his death. (Episode #7)

2015

Cole, weak from several time jumps, nearly dies. Cassandra and a 2015 Dr. Jones save him using DNA from the 2015 Cole, who is five years old. It works - and Cole takes down the Pallid Man in the process. (Episode #12)

Season 1

2015

Assuming Ramse is the Witness – the head of the Army of the 12 Monkeys – Cassandra and Cole try to stop him. They learn he’s not, but Cassandra is shot. Cole sends her to the future to save her. (Episode #13)

Season 1

2015

Twelve children – the future Army of the 12 Monkeys – are born into Olivia's care. (Episode #13)

Season 2

2016

Cole and Ramse track Jennifer to NYC, where she is about to release the virus. Cassie arrives to stop Jennifer. (Episode #14)

Season 2

2016

The virus is destroyed and the timeline is altered (meaning the future is changed so that the virus DOES eventually get out...but to a less ferocious degree). Cole finds a photo of himself and Cassandra from 1944 in a hotel room he rented when he apparently traveled there. (Episode #15)

Season 2

2016

Cassie arrives from the future to get Jennifer's help in identifying primaries that must be protected from the Army of the 12 Monkeys. They are kidnapped by them, and Jennifer mortally wounds Olivia, then gives Cassie the name of a primary - Kyle Slade in 1975. (Episode #18)

Season 2

2016

Under advice from 2044’s Jennifer Goines, Cole arrives to learn the identity of the last primary from The Pallid Man. He learns said Primary can be found in 1954. (Episode #22)

The Pallid Man approaches Jones’ ex-husband about starting a “Project Titan.” (Episode #22)

Cole leaves Jennifer to return to 2043. Seconds later, Jennifer is visited by ...Cole, again, asking for her help with 2044's Daughters and stopping Cassie/Ramse. (Episode #22, #24)

2017

Cassie and Cole chase The Witness (Athan) through time. (Episode #36)

Season 3

Jennifer finds The Witness (Athan), having been gravely wounded by Jones in 1959. She nurses him back to health. (Episode #36)

Season 3

2018

With the plague having begun, a healed Witness (Athan) heads back to 1959 to save Cole and Cassie. (Episode #36)

Season 1

2019

Cole - having not died following the explosion the Operation: Troy explosion in Chechnya - jumps to 2019. He finds a dying Cassie (who, shortly before, had sent the message that Jones/Cole listened to in 2043 that started their journey back in time to find her). She gives him an address before he travels back to 2043. She succumbs to the virus. (Episode #9)

Season 2

2020

Cassie arrives, under orders from 2044’s Jones to kill 2020’s Jones so that she never invents time travel (and thus the Messengers can never use it to go travel to the past, destroy primaries, and thus destroy everything). Cassie learns any attempt to kill Jones results in getting caught in a time loop, so she secretly saves Jones’ daughter but leads Jones to think her daughter died, maintaining Jones’ mission to create the time machine. (Episode #21)

2033

Dr. Jones leaves Spearhead (a Quarantined, protected space) for Project Splinter, where she would build the time machine in order to stop the virus. (Episode #8)

Season 1

2039

Ramse leaves Elena, not knowing he impregnanted her. (Revealed in Episode #8)

Season 1

2043

After identifying Leland Goines as the potential engineer of the virus, Cole undergoes his inaugural time leap to stop its creation. (Episode #1)

Season 1

2043

Cole arrives from two days in the future, where he realizes he inadvertently caused the West 7 invasion two days later. He bides his time for two days and uses the knowledge to help his two-days-in-the-future self defeat the West 7. (Episode #4)

Season 1

2043

Cole arrives from his 2014 journey. The West 7 - a group of violent scavengers he used to run with - attack. He tries to fight them off and leaps back two days in the past. Just as Cole travels back to the past, the version of him FROM two days earlier helps defeat the West 7. (Episode #4)

Season 1

2043

Ramse learns he has a son. He realizes stopping the virus will ensure his son never existed, so he travels back to the past (1987 - see that entry) to ensure the virus IS released. (Episode #10)

Season 1

Cassandra, having just been shot, arrives from 2015 (Cole having sent her to the future to save her) to find The Army of the 12 Monkeys has taken over the facility. (Episode #13)

Season 2

2044

Some of the Army of the 12 Monkeys travels back in time before Cassie, Jones and Deacon stop them (the trio kills the rest). (Episode #14)

Season 2

2044

Due to paradoxes in the past (cue the murder of Crawford Jr.), a reality-consuming “Red Forest” starts to grow and destroy everything in its path. (Episode #16).

Season 2

2044

Jones realizes the Army of the 12 Monkeys is trying to destroy time itself by killing “Primaries,” special individuals “attuned” to time itself. (Episode #17)

The Witness takes over Cassie's mind, leading her to splinter Ramse's son Sam to an undisclosed time/location. (Episode #20)

Jones learns her daughter is alive, thanks to Cassie’s actions in 2020. (Episode #21)

Ramse and Cassandra attempt a coup to use the time machine to get to Project Titan. Cole enlists 2044 Jennifer and The Daughters to help him. He brings 2016 Jennifer to help his cause, but 2044 Jennifer dies. Cole and Cassie head to 1957 to stop the last paradox. (Episode #24)

Cassie and Cole arrive from 1957 with time having been saved. They find Jones, who has been alone for a year. (Episode #26)

Ramse, Jennifer, Deacon and The Daughters find Titan City. Prior to Cole changing the timeline in Episode #26, the group was slaughtered but Cole's actions in Episode #26 changed that. (Episode #25)

Season 3

2046

Ramse, off the events of Season 2, is with Olivia who reveals that she has his son, Sam. Apparently when Sam was splintered by the Witness in Season 2, he was shuttled from 2044 to 2023, where Olivia found him and raised him. A wounded Sam dies with Ramse by his side. (Episode #28)

Season 3

2046

Jones, Jennifer and Cole return from 1922 and Ramse reunites with Cole. Olivia tells Ramse that the Witness is Cole and Cassie’s son, and encourages him to go back in time to kill Cassie before she ever met Cole, thus preventing the Witness’ birth. Ramse tricks Cole into returning to 2007 with him. (Episode #29-30)

Season 3

2046

Cassie and Deacon, fresh off the time travel injections from their escape from Titan, arrive. They bury injections so they can find them in 2047. (Episode #30)

Season 3

2046

Cassie returns from 1990 and Jones confronts her about being the Witness’ mother. Cassie steals the time travel suit and travels back to 1953. (Episode #33)

Season 3

2047

Deacon, a prisoner in Titan since the end of Season 2, finds Cassie, rescues her and they escape. They find the ruins of the Temporal Facility, but some buried time travel injections that were clearly left by the team in the past, knowing that Cassie and Deacon would arrive and need them. (Episodes #29-30)

Deacon takes pity on Jennifer, who has been locked up since helping Cole and Cassie in 1899, and agrees to send her home. (Episode #35)

Olivia escapes from the facility and heads to Titan, where she stages a coup of the Army of the 12 Monkeys. (Episode #36)

Cassie, Cole and Jones return from the showdown with Olivia in 1959. (Episode #36)

Having been hurled through time, Cassie arrives in 2163 where she learns the identity of the Witness. (Episode #26)

A future version of Cole (with a future version of Cassie lingering in the shadows) abducts Cole-from-Season-3-looking-for-Cassie-in-Titan and tells him that Jennifer, trapped in the past, is the way to find Cassie. (Episode #27)
