We had you at "Boy Band Zombie Western," didn't we? And no, even though it's indeed airing on Syfy on April 1, Dead 7 isn't an April Fool's joke.

If you remember, last summer we announced that The Asylum, the beautiful maniacs behind Z Nation and Sharknado, we're getting behind a post-apocalyptic tale of the rootin' tootin' undead that also served as something of a reunion project for at least a few members of the Backstreet Boys ... and also served as something of a creative truce between that boy band and its longtime rival, NSYNC, as Joey Fantone would also be in the cast.

Well, Dead 7 is indeed happening, penned by and starring Nick Carter, who's joined by fellow BSBers A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough. The gonzo tale follows Jack (Carter), a self-styled Man With No Name who teams up with a motley crew of renegades (including Fantone, Dorough, 98 Degrees' Jeff Timmons and O-Town's Erik-Michael Estrada) to take down Apocalypta (MADtv's Debra Wilson), a villainess who, along with her right-hand man Johnny Vermillion (McLean), uses the undead to wreck havoc on a small town.

As with all Asylum outings, expect the tone to be earnest to the point of absurdity.

Nick Carter began writing the Dead 7 script over eight years ago. "It takes a long time, especially when you have no credibility whatsoever and you've got to figure it all out yourself," he admitted. Things took a turn for the better (and the undeader) when he launched a campaign on Indiegogo and received $156,214 in funding.

The fruits of Carter's labor will be unveiled on April 1. Watch a trailer below:
