WARNING: If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!
To catch up: The police chief murdered his son (Officer Luke) but is now seeing visions of him. And Alice has chased her sister through the spooky door in the woods and they're now both in the summer home of the Peach family, where the patriarch, Joseph Peach, has been trying to cure them of their schizophrenia (while also making them into a weird facsimile of his own dead daughters).
Also. The Peach family have a very weird life. They're all cannibals. And the daughter-in-law (Edie) is pregnant. There's a lot of worry lately about how "the rent is due." Sometimes they refer to it as the "offering." And the family is getting increasingly anxious about finding "the girl."
While exploring the Peach house, Zoe comes across a red door. And every time she gets near it, she sees this very creepy image. Alice has seen it before too, in her visions. It scares Zoe enough that she turns and flees the red door altogether.
Sidebar: these goblin-children. They belong to Aldous Peach. He's the brother of Robert Peach, who was killed by Officer Luke. The Police Chief has brought Ralph here to prove that he killed his own son in retribution but Officer Luke's body is gone. No matter, says Ralph Peach, the children smell his blood, and will find him. Ye-gads.
As Alice tries to figure out what's going on, Zoe returns with news that she's found this god-like thing behind the red door. Alice is horrified to learn that after Mr. Peach "fixes" her, it turns her "hungry" - that is… into a cannibal. Alice says it's better than being crazy. But...is it?
Alice can hear something in the walls. And if you'll recall, that's how this all started, when she was on a social work call at Izzy's house and heard someone in the walls. So she explores the house and finds Izzy, hiding in the wall. Izzy asks if Alice can get her home, and Alice tells her to be patient and hide a little longer.
Meanwhile, Zoe finds her way into the field of flowers, and bumps into the spooky gardener who speaks in riddles. He tells her that behind the red door she found earlier, is a child. She doesn't know what that means, but…it's not the first time she's heard that mentioned.
Mr. Peach assures Alice that he'll send Izzy home and then make her better. But the meat person and Edie Peach lead Izzy through the red door instead. Where that terrible creature is! Is Izzy the child they've all been talking about?
True to his word, the police chief, Ralph Peach, and his children come looking for Officer Luke at Louise's house, following the trail of blood. Louise takes him to the basement because a bootlegger told her there's a way out that way. When the police chief tries to convince them he's here to help, Louise and Luke don't trust him.
But it turns out, the chief took care of Ralph Peach and his children. Louise, Luke, and the Police Chief are ready to take care of things. They know they're dealing with something huge, and they're all in it together now. And even though the chief killed the Peaches, they'll wake up unless Luke, Louise and the chief cut off Ralph's and the children's heads and so they do.
When Zoe comes back with news that Izzy was the person who the family was looking for, Alice says they let her go and not to worry. But Zoe isn't buying it. Alice, meanwhile, is willingly taken to a ceremony where Mr. Peach removes a creepy centipede from her mouth, same as he did with Zoe.
Zoe has had enough. Seeing Mr. Peach do to her sister what was done to her, she rushes to the red door, finds Izzy behind it, and steals her from the scary antler-god creature. Zoe sends Izzy down the stairs and back to the world, and then goes back to find Alice.
Alice refuses to go, she's too busy admiring the gross centipede that they took out of her. Zoe realizes that the only way to save her sister is to sacrifice herself. And so, she takes the centipede and eats it.
Louise, and the Police Chief have cut the heads off the Peach family. And now, they decide they have to get the hell out of there. Anywhere but Garrett. But the people who live here are still in danger. While the Chief tries to excuse their exit, Officer Luke shoots him.
Meanwhile the Peach family sits down to eat dinner. Alice eats the meat that they've all been consuming, and really seems to love it. That's when the family realizes that Zoe's missing. When Alice tells them that Zoe was all worked up about Izzy…
