Our Top Looks: Season 9, Episode 6

Our taste in extraterrestrials is a bit different from that of the judges.

By Bryan Enk

This week the artists were tasked with a pretty nifty two-part assignment: create a retro alien in the Foundation Challenge, and then "reboot" that alien with a modern-day aesthetic in the Spotlight Challenge.

How to Watch

Catch up on Face Off on Peacock or the SYFY App.

In other words, create something like the Gorn from the original Star Trek TV series ... and then re-imagine the beast as it would appear in, say, a feature film directed by J.J. Abrams.

It made for an exciting episode, one made all the more entertaining by appearances from Star Trek alums Jonathan Frakes (Commander Riker) and Michael Dorn (Worf). And, as usual, our Top Looks were a bit different from those of the judges.

Season 9, Episode 6: "Extraterrestrial Enterprise"

Top Looks (Judges):
Ben (Winner)
Stevie
Scott

Our Top Looks:

  1. Nora (Safe)

This guy rules. I mean, look at his mighty scepter, royal robes and stern countenance. He obviously does.

  2. Evan (Safe)

Evan won the Foundation Challenge (and thusly gained immunity for this Spotlight Challenge), and we thought this upgraded version of his retro alien was just as impressive. Regal and ethereal in equal measure.

  3. Kevon (Safe)

We liked Kevon's creation if only because his was the most unique -- and, arguably, the most alien -- of all 11 makeups on display. It's also the only one we could see making an appearance on any iteration of Star Trek.
